This moment in the ongoing rebuilding of Bucharest, Romania, was presented, inadvertently, by Nicolae Ceaușescu whose selfish drive to channel all possible energy into monuments to himself left no resources for the rebuilding of either aging or war damages aspects of the capitol; and the gang of nine, led by George W. Bush, whose blind devotion to laissez-faire politics lead to the financial crisis of the beginning of the 21st Century which brought all reconstruction benefits of Romania's entry into the European Union to an abrupt, screaming halt.
